Everybody loves flowers. I haven't met someone who doesn't. Flowers just bring colors, happiness and more life into our offices and homes.
There is only one problem with flowers. After a week or so, you will have to throw them out and buy new ones. That's a shame for their beauty and your wallet. There is an alternative. You might have guessed it from the title, but the alternative we're talking about is 'preserved' flowers.
In this blog we'll talk about what 'preserved' means, how it's applied to flowers, what the benefits are.
What does preserved mean?
When we're going to talk about preserved flowers, we'll first have to establish what preserved means and how it works. To explain this we'll start at the preservation process at the plantation where plants, trees and flowers. These plantations exist especially to preserve these products. If you want to know more about preserved trees or plants, take a look at our 'Introduction to Preserved Trees' blog. Just like normal flowers, preserved flowers are grown until they at their most beautiful state. Up until this point the flowers are just living ones.
When the flowers are fully grown, they are pruned and are taking inside a hot room. We do want to keep some secrets, so we'll not mention the temperature of the room. The flower heads are placed into barrels with two liquids. These liquids are glycerine and color-pigment.
After the flowers are placed inside this hot room, the water in cells of the flowers evaporates. The cells become empty and flower needs water again. But instead of water, which the flower would have gotten from the soil outside, the flower takes in the two liquids and they are stored in the empty cells. Now the water is replaced with glycerine and color-pigment, and the flower is preserved.
Benefits of preserved flowers
Now that the flowers are preserved, it's like they're 'frozen in time'. They're at their most beautiful and that moment is caught and framed.
The flowers still look 100% natural and will not be easily distinguished from living flowers. Next to that, their lifespan has been improved by years. We give a two-year warranty on flowers and flower arrangements.
This way you'll be able to enjoy your flowers for a very long time. You don't have to replace your preserved flower bouquet or arrangement every week. You'll earn back your flowers, within weeks!
Other benefits of preserved flowers are that they don't need any water anymore. They'll always look representative. Also, preserved flowers can be placed anywhere, as long as it's inside. Airflow does not impact the lifespan of preserved flowers, as it does with living flowers.
Conclusion
The possibilities with preserved flowers are almost endless. They can be used anywhere inside. There is almost no difference in quality than living flowers and you'll be able to enjoy your preserved flower bouquet for years to come.
